Breast feeding and formula? The statements always start.... he is eating so much, I can't make enough milk for him. He just wants to nurse all the time. Maybe I need to give him formula to or maybe I need to start giving him cereal in his milk. Breast milk production comes from a supply and demand cycle. Nutrition and Breast feeding.

As a midwife I value nutrition. I have always tried to juice carrots, beets, celery , green beans etc to glean as much nutrition from my vegetables as possible. For close to 10 years I've been hearing about a product called Juice plus. One capsule of the vegies and one capsule of the fruits is the equivalent of 10 fruits and vegies. I attended an interesting birth recently as a doula. The hospital worked very hard to be family-friendly and to allow mom informed consent/refusal and I was thankful for that. About 30 minutes after birth, they wanted to take the baby, weigh him, measure, etc. Baby hadn't begun breastfeeding yet, and I told them that the parents wanted to use AAP's current guidelines on that and keep the baby with them.
