Welcome to the world of breastfeeding. What a different and wonderful world for those of you breastfeeding for the first time. Though most women in the United States experience numerous problems and hurdles to succeeding at breastfeeding and give up within the first 2 weeks, many women jump every hurdle, take every detour and determine their own success. Congratulations to those of you who have jumped enough hurdles to enter the Olympics! Breastfeeding problems appear to increase as one's society becomes more sophisticated. Go to many other parts of the world and you will not find painful nipples or breasts, mastitis or even colicky babies and their babies gain plenty of weight.
