Nutrition and Breast feeding.

As a midwife I value nutrition. I have always tried to juice carrots, beets, celery , green beans etc to glean as much nutrition from my vegetables as possible. For close to 10 years I've been hearing about a product called Juice plus. One capsule of the vegies and one capsule of the fruits is the equivalent of 10 fruits and vegies. The standard dose is to work up to two and two ( 20 fruits and vegies/ day). It took me a long time to add it to my diet. I rationalized "Was the expense worth it?" "Couldn't I just juice?" (Juicing is a lot of work and my kids turn their noses up to it.) Once I added Juice Plus to my diet I began to crave fruits and vegies and had a strong desire to make my body even healthier. My kids love the juice gummy bears. My representative shared with me a concept of "metabolic reprogramming". That is you crave what you eat. I was thinking this is the ideal supplement not only for pregnancy but for breast feeding as we pump our milk full of antioxidants and organic fruits and vegies and metabolically program our infants to crave fruits and vegetables. It's an exciting concept. What a way to get our children hooked on vegies rather than MCDonalds!!! Anyway. I'm excited. I wanted to share this concept of more nutritious breast milk as the latest research shows that women who consume organic fruits and vegies have richer breast milk in certain nutrients. I decided to start offering it to my clients pre-conceptionally, antenatally and post partum.
