A woman's body is amazing. Let's celebrate its ability to give life and sustain that life through breastfeeding. We need to continue the effort to have hospitals be baby friendly and encourage and facilitate early breastfeeding. Everyone needs to get on board so that women are allowed to be with their babies. Women should have the choice to be able to room-in with their babies and the nurses should be there to help them to learn the art of breastfeeding. I know that nurses are overworked but it should be acknowledged that the mother baby bond should not have to be affected by this. Staffing should support the needs of the mother and baby. There are many changes that need to take place, but if we are moving in the right direction that is the first step.
