I work in a plant and they told us a week in advance tthat they would be turning off the heat night to save on energy cost. Well that was kind of understood but they never turned it back on and now there is no hot water. Now I only pump once at work instead of twice. What should I do this is hurting my milk supply, please help!

As crazy as it is, there is no hot water at my work. I have 2 solutions for you.
1. heat water in a microwave if you have one
2. go to babies r us or other store that has medela supplies. They have medela quick wipes that are for cleaning your kit without water, this is what I use.

Hope this helps.

Rinsing with cold water and reusing the kit once is not going to hurt your milk. If you are seriously concerned, then keep the kit in the fridge between pumping sessions.

The only actual drawback is that it's a little harder to clean at the end of the day, but that's preferable, IMO to only pumping once.

I work at a school with limited hot water... dunno why. I use the medela quick steam bags. I just rinse my parts and toss them in the bag with 2oz water and cook for 3 mins. I think it is quicker than washing. Plus I dont have to cart around soap, wash cloths and towels. The steam dries really fast too.

I agree that just washing with cold water would be just fine. I find that washing and drying takes too long for me. So I have a few sets of gear. I just take everything home to wash at the end of the day. I also sometimes use the Medela wipes, if I have a long day and need to add an extra pump session.

Quick steam bags are awesome and so are the wipes. Cold water is just fine though. Just make sure to wash thoroughly when you get home.

I don't wash or rinse my pump in between pump sessions. I used to pump three times a day and then I would wash my pump at night. Now I pump 2x and still don't rinse

Over 11 months of BF and so far DS is fine.
