View Full Version : Columbus, OH GTG - STICKY please!

It is with much embarrassment that I just now figured out how to add a poll to a thread.

To anyone who will be in the area and would like a kid-friendly GTG, please respond. Given the responses on my previous thread, I am limiting the poll.

Also, I am going to be leaving to drive to Ohio in a bit, so unfortunately will not be back to this until late tonight.

ETA: Okay, polls are stupid because you can only have one question. The dates were narrowed down to 26th or the 28th. Please post your preference on day on the thread.

Thank you and I hope to be meeting many of the central Ohio ladies soon!

Um, COSI should be good. 26th or 28th maybe - I can't be 100% sure but I'll do my best to make it.

28th would work for me. Afternoon and hope that I'm not too exhausted. From noon on the 27th to noon on the 28th my house will be full of teenage boys playing video games. They tend to get louder after I go to bed.

26th isn't so good for me because I've agreed to work that morning AND it will be our day to get all the last minute stuff done before the boys party.

Mall play area or COSI will work for me. Which mall are we thinking? (I don't care honestly...just curious.) I don't know how it is this year, but I know that one time when we were at Tuttle during the Christmas season they had the play area converted to Santaland...that's where they had Santa hanging out. I don't know if they do that every year OR how soon after Christmas they would have it restored to playable condition but it might be something to check on if we were potentially going there. I know that the Polaris play area is open for business because hubby and my daughters went there the other night.

Mary, they moved Santa to the other end of Tuttle so that the play area has stayed open. I still like Polaris better though. Only one entrance to escape from!

I am all for the mall. we will be leaving here in the morning and will be there by afternoon on the 28th. I would love to meet you ladies. I just cant afford COSI right now.

The problem with this is that the mall play area is for very small children. Our other children would just have to sit there and do nothing. Emily is way too tall to be allowed to play. I think the height limit is somewhere around 42 inches. Emily is around 50.

It just seemed like an odd response, that's all. I'm not the decision maker on where we'll meet - that's why there's a poll. I just wanted to make a point, in case a lot of us have older children who will most likely be bummed that they can't do anything but sit around and watch the younger ones play.

I wasn't trying to be mean or rude and I am sorry if you thought I was. It doesnt matter to me where we meet I just cant afford something expensive right after Christmas.

Well, it seems that the 28th is the better day for several and others are neutral on day, so let's make it Saturday.

I know that afternoon tends to be nap time for many, but hauling yourself and several kids to COSI can be a production first thing in the morning. How does 11AM sound? That way, people who want earlier can come and then take off before nap time and those of us who want to do the whole thing can stick around to see the afternoon only folks?

Elizabethdaisy
12-24-2007, 09:53 AM
so you are doing the 29 at COSI? how expensive is it to go there?

So Saturday? We'll try to make it, but dh may have something planned that day. Hopefully we can come for at least a little while.

I would love to show up, but, I can't afford COSI either. :(

Elizabethdaisy
12-25-2007, 07:53 AM
hey babymakes4 we should do the mall playarea.

LadyLiberty
12-25-2007, 02:29 PM
babymakes4, aren't you military? Military dependents receive a discount, and active and reserve military get free admission.

Actually, the 28th is Friday, but Saturday is also an option. Friday night is also this month's Family Friday Night from 5-9 pm when admission costs are reduced, if that would be best. Additionally, groups of 15 or more can receive a group discount. Lastly, I do not intend to buy an all-inclusive pass because my twins would not be able to sit through a movie. The exhibit only passes are much less expensive.

COSI need not be a super expensive trip. I wold be willing to throw in a few bucks to help anyone who wants to come.

So, Friday or Saturday?

Can we get 15 people to commit in order to receive a group discount?

Anyone who is a member or otherwise receives a discount willing to chip in a few dollars to help everyone attend? PLEASE, please do not feel an obligation to do this! It is just a thought of mine so that anyone who wants to participate could go.

If Friday, do you prefer daytime or Family Night?

Elizabethdaisy
12-25-2007, 07:29 PM
if we do friday I would say night we will be coming in afternoon then looking at a few places. let me know we are leaving friday.

Let me know whatever is decided and I'll see if we can make it. I've had a pretty crappy week, so I may not be up to it.

Mary_Mary
12-26-2007, 11:46 AM
Let me know the final decision too. As I mentioned before, my boys are having a party and everyone is supposed to leave at noon on Friday the 28th. The way things are looking right now, the afternoon might be busy for me, as my nephew is here and my sister will be coming to retrieve him that afternoon and will probably want to visit, so Saturday would actually be better for me.

However, if we decide on Friday evening I could probably make it.

Well, my living room is wall to wall teenage boys. Despite that I did get a reasonable nights sleep.

There are ten boys in the living room and the games they play these days are pretty wacky. The Wii has revolutionized things. The one kid isn't shooting anyone...he's playing a cheerleading game of all things.

On the other TV they ARE playing some sort of shooting game, but the main appeal appears to be getting through the 'challenge' so they can listen to the song at the end. Some love song, girly-pop sounding thing. Guitar Hero was big this party too.

So has there been a final decision yet?

Lady liberty pmed me and said they are pretty sure it will be tonight from 6-9. I am going to try very hard to make it. I would love to meet all you ladies.

We're going to try to be there. I'm laying down with ice on my neck right now. As long as my headache eases and I don't end up with a migraine - we'll be there. Mary - you'll be there? You still have my cell?

LadyLiberty
12-28-2007, 01:56 PM
Sorry ladies, I have not been able to get online much at my aunt's house.

I will be there tonight from 6-9. Discounted admission begins at 5 pm, $7/person, under 2 is free. All other discounts still apply, such as member discounts and military discounts.

I will have all three kids in tow and we do plan to have a look at Bob the Builder! There is also a 3D dinosaur thing. My kids love dinosaurs, but I don't know if they would sit still for it.

I'm bringing my camera and hopefully the rest of you will too. So far, I count Mary, Veggie, and me plus kids. I'm sorry you can't make it Teri.

Blue? ED? GG? Bebe? BM4? I hope more will be able to make it down.

Well, it's not a migraine, so that's good. My kids are er, having some issues though. holden has been screaming for the past hour. LEt's just hope he's tired. IT's close to an hour drive there, so I seriously doubt we'll be there by 6, but we'll be there.

I was too pooped to party! Plus Zoe wasn't a good girl at the sitter's house. Actually, she's been acting up for weeks now since her sleep is all messed up, so she probably would've been a holy terror had we been able to make it.

Hope everyone had fun, though!

LOL that would be fun. I have not been to COSI since I was a JR girl scout. Now going with a 10 yr old, 16 month old and newborn could make it very interesting. Have to see if the hubby gets a vehicle next month. I miss being able to get out while he is at work!
