My dd will be 7 wks old in a few days and my not so dear dh thinks it's fine to take her to a family New Years Eve party. We have already taken her to a couple events for the holidays and she has shown us that she isn't the type of baby who is fine with a lot of people and a lot of noise. Would you take your 7 week old to the party or stay home?

It depends on the baby. Ds, no, I would not have. He did not do well in new places. Dd wouldn't have cared in the least. She would have been happy snuggled in her sling.

DS is the kid who slept through his first rock concert (staged fireworks and all) at 6mos, so if we were the party type I'd have likely taken him with us.
Sadly, we've become quite the homebodies, and will be happily spending tonight in the comfort of our living room watching the Bourne movies.

I think you know your baby best and if your DD is not one to easily be around a crowd for extended periods of time then I would just stay home. it is not fair to anyone involved for you to be uncomfortalbe worrying about her, the baby to be uncomfortable in new surrounding until who knows what time either. Is there anyway that you can compromise with DH? Maybe go and leave before midnight??? Or some other compromise that I am not bright enough to think of at this moment!?! Good luck!

I declined to go to my our nephew's b-day party when DS was 12 days old. There were going to be about 25 kids there and I didn't want to expose him to that. Plus, that side of the family is really anti-BFing.
