Hello,
Its been awhile since I've been on these boards and then I was usually on the pumping page. I am here now because I am at the end of my rope and I can't find advice anywhere.

I am really close to my target goal weight of 150 pounds. Currently I weigh about 168. I am still nursing my daughter who will be three later this month. She only nurses to go to sleep at night and for naps on weekends. My DH and I decided that we wanted to try for another baby starting this month, so 2 months ago I decided to get down to my goal weight so I could have a healthy pregnancy this time. I started exercising (riding a stationary bike 20-30 minutes every day and weights 3x a week) and being careful of what I ate (although sometimes I slipped). I fully expected to lose 1-2 pounds a week or something, but in over two months of exercising I have not lost a single pound. I even started religiously counting calories and monitoring my heart rate and I have had no success. I have worked so hard and I feel like such a failure. There was one weird point where I was down to 164 and then three days later I was at 170. I don't understand any of this especially since I have lost weight before doing this same regimen.

So what do you think I should do? See my doctor?
Thanks,
Jaime

What I would do (which isn't necessarily what you should do) is I would journal my food for a week (as in everything that goes in your mouth. Did you lick the cake batter spoon? Yes, well it gets written down. Have a piece of gum? Write it down too) and same thing for activity level. An example of activity journal would be like this (if I had done this today)

9:00 - 11:00 Got up, got me and the kids ready
11:00 - 12:00 Walked around wal-mart

I'd follow through for the whole day.

Sometimes people under eat and over exercise and it's not optimal for weight loss. Oh yeah, on your food journal you also need to put how much of stuff you ate.

I also want to mention that it's not necessarily just the calories, but the combination.

I heard somewhere (here maybe) that a nursing mother's body can "store" up to 10lbs of weight until she weans. The reason, I do not remember.
Journaling will help for sure, especially to catch that "mindless eating".
Good luck!

I have been keeping a food journal, on average I eat anywhere from 1,200 to 1,400 calories a day. I don't think that's a lot. I eat very well balanced meals too (my parents and family are nutrition freaks). Well, thanks for your support. I am going to continue journaling and get an appointment with my doctor.

I had heard about the "storing of pounds" in some bfing women and I wondered if that had anything to do with it. I am pretty reluctant to let my doctor know I am still bfing, but it will probably have to come up. Last time I told a doctor he told me I didn't have to do that anymore, like I didn't know any better about when to stop. I should have played totally dumb and told him they weren't used up yet, or they wouldn't stop making milk or I didn't want to void the warranty or something, please!

Thanks so much ladies, I'll let you know what happens.
