Is it possible to go into labor without first having passed the mucus plug? I'm just curious.

I'm so over being pregnant andnd I'm just hoping and hoping to go into labor any second. lol!

(I'm almost 38 weeks and I'm 2 plus centimeters and 60% effaced.)

It's always possible to pass the plug and never notice it, so, yes! Until things start, enjoy the sleep while you can, and read a non-pregnancy book. :)

I have 3 kids and I never noticed my mucus plug passing. So, yes, it is possible to go into labor without an obvious mucus plug passing.

Good luck ... not much longer now ...

Thanks guys!

And, sleep? What's that? I pee every hour all night long. I haven't slept more than 2 hours at a stretch since I was about 4 months pregnant. I try to think of it as training. :)

LOL! I slept much better with a newborn than I ever did when I was pregnant! I was a terrible pregnant sleeper! It won't last much longer. Good luck!

4 kids here and never noticed the plug. Not that you need to lose it to go into labor anyways. Also I was 4 centimeters and 75 % effaced weeks before DD#4 was born. You never can tell....

It is more common I think not to notice the mucus plug. I only did with dd1.

It won't be much longer, even though it seems like forever when you are waiting!

Well, that gives me hope. Every day I wake up and wonder, "Is this the day?" I can't wait. This pregnancy has been a ddifficult one, and I've been chasing my three year old (if you equate "chasing" with fast waddling) around with this terrible pain in my groin since I was 4 months preggers! Some days are tough and I get caught up in feeling sorry for myself, silly me. Thanks for the encouragement guys.

My dear how I was just in your shoes. I have two children...and my youngest was born in october and my oldest will be four next month. I had so many complications...including severe bedrest at the end...and taking medication to keep contractions at bay... there are things you can try to induce labor...have you tried any of these things?
