I have just read an answer on this topic in FAQ. I understood that frozen breast milk stinks due to lipase function of the fat. I got the point. The question is: Is it actually safe for my baby to drink it? I was storing it at the freezer for 1 month, it does not look sour but has an unpleasant taste and odor. My milk supply went down for a past week. I have a choice either to give her a formula or my frozen milk that smells. She is 4 months now and we just got over colicky period and I just don't want her to have a food poisoning. Are there any body who tried to give a baby frozen milk with unpleasant smell and taste? PLS HELP!

Yes, it's perfectly safe for the baby.

The only issue is going to be if baby will DRINK the milk. Many people have no problem with baby taking the 'soapy' milk. Some do have issues getting baby to drink it though.

I have lipase issues too and now I routinely pastuerize any milk I plan to freeze. It's easy. Just pour the milk into a small pan, turn the heat on medium low and STAND OVER IT to watch it. It won't take long. As soon as you start seeing small bubbles coming up through the milk it's done. Set it off the heat.

I use breastmilk storage bags by Lansinoh. I cool the milk a little and then pour it into the bags, seal and lay them flat in the freezer.

Heat treatment DOES damage the nutritional value of the milk a little, BUT as long as the baby isn't drinking ONLY pasteurized milk it's still better for baby than the alternatives. Plus, if it means that the baby will DRINK the milk then it's well worth it.

I agree with pp, too.

For supply, you may want to try squeezing in an extra session. Even if it is only for a few minutes, it will help.
