I had just had my second daughter on January 5th. When we went for the 2 day check up I talked with a lactation nurse about pain when I was breast feeding. I had chills and fevers and didn't think that it was normal, but I was also on pain meds after having a tubal. She told me I was just getting my milk in. The next day I hurt so badly I couldn't hold my baby or move my arms. I had my husband take me to the hospital ER and was told I had mastitis and I was lucky I came in when I did to avoid a very painful surgery.
I was prescribed to pump and breastfeed as much as I could and now have to take antibiotics 4 times a day for 10 days.
I just want to let all breastfeeding moms know that YOU know your body better then anyone else. If it doesn't feel right to you get a second opinion.
