My daughter is almost 2 weeks old and it seems like she eats a lot more then other babies her age ( double!). I have to pump milk because of mastitis and was surprised to see that she eats up to 6 oz. in one feeding. I can't supply enough milk for her at the rate that she's eating so I am having to supplement with formula. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the boards.

I don't know how much a newborn would eat, but I do know she should eat as much and as often as she needs.

I also know this:
The more you pump/feed her the better your supply will be. The more you supplement, the less your body will know to produce for the baby. Try and pump every time your baby eats a bottle.

I am sure you will get some great advice on here.

How much does she weigh? What was her birthweight? How often do you nurse her? How often does she get a bottle?

When dd was 2 weeks she was nursing every 1 1/2-2 hours around the clock for about 15-20 minutes each time.

Kariann's birth weight was 7 pounds 12 ounces, and she's about 8 pounds 4 ounces now. She eats every 2-3 hours. She only gets the bottle when I pump and it's less then an ounce. ( I had mastitis so I had to pump, breastfeeding her hurt too much and she couldn't latch on the one side.)
