Hi, I'm new to the group, and I was interested to read the "nursing all night" thread. I thankfully don't have that problem (KNOCK WOOD), but I was wondering how often your older babies are nursing during the day? My 14-month-old wants to breastfeed all the time, despite consistently snacking on finger foods and eating at least two good solid food meals a day. I usually give in, because it's easier than listening to him fuss, but I'm wondering if I need to start setting some limits with him.

Thanks!

Mine nursed at least 8 - 10 times a day at that age. It's quite normal. Setting limits wouldn't have done anything good here. My child didn't much like solids until he was 18 months and didn't eat them well til he was 2. Limiting his nursing would have just made him hungry. If you don't mind it, I would just continue to nurse on demand. It will reduce in time.

My two boys increased a little more at this age. They had been eating solids but they just wanted more from me. I think with our second one it is because of his teething and he is growing right now. With our first he just ate like he was starving. It didn't matter how much solids he was given he wanted me. He'll start to even out. :)

I am so glad that you posted this question, becaseu my 12 month old is going through the same thing right now. Of course, he is not feeling well, and I am 11 weeks pregnant so every time he latches on it hurts extremely bad right now. But I was wondering if it was me thinking that he was nursing more or if it was the reality!....it is the reality that he is nursing all day long!!!!!!!!! WOW! Thanks for raising this again!
