Yes you can just make sure you nurse your son before he takes a bottle. Nurse on domand. Also use a slow flow bottle. And dont give him more formula then is needed if your are nursing him he wouldnt need as much milk. Does he nurse at night? Do you cosleep? All will help boost milk supply.

Drink as much liquids as you can!!! stay away from any caffeine as it is a diuretic and can decrease your production. Also use nipple stimulation to try to let down in between feedings and pump. It will mimic an increase in his eating and hopefully trick your body into producing more. I don't know what the pediatrician told you, but supplementation should not replace your usual feedings.... they should supplement after you have nursed your baby on both sides. The main thing is to stay relaxed and not worry about how much you are producing (even if you are worried!) because that can feed your production problems.

Nurse him as often as possible. Always give both breasts before giving a bottle if he is hungry and always give the breast before offering a pacifier if he seems he needs to suck. If he stirs or fusses or stretches in his sleep and you think he will nurse a little give him the breast. If he takes the right side and stops and takes the left side and stops give him the right and then the left again.

My third daughter never wanted to nurse as much as she wanted to suck on her fingers, and I never felt she was getting enough milk, but I just kept nursing and kept offering the breast and she must have gotten enough because she's chubby. She still nurses, but only a few times a day and for just seconds per side.
