Ok...It's been too long to remember with DS. What happens at the 6 week checkup? I'm sure it's the standard pee in a cup, weight, blood pressure...Don't they usually do a vaginal ultrasound to make sure that the baby is implanted in a good location? Can they see the heartbeat already at 6 weeks....I can't remember if I went at 6 or 8 weeks last time....Any help?

I had my first dr visit at 8 weeks. They took urine and blood, my weight, bp, and vag ultrasound. I saw the heartbeat. We talked about what to expect, what to eat, what I could do and not do. He scheduled to see me every 4 weeks. At 12 weeks I had a regular US and found out I was expecting twins. The dr started seeing me every two weeks to check heartbeats and how fast or slow I was growing.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Could they not see the twins at 6 weeks? The reason why I am asking is that I have already gained 3 pounds and I am "showing". This may be because it is my second baby....but the more the merrier.

I know how you feel, I am 10 wks and showing with my second. I think I was around 6 or 7 when I started to show a little too. I guess you show quicker with your second. I really hope it isn't twins for me since no one on myside has them, but my husbands dad's mom had a set of girls who passed away at 6 months I guess...anything is possible.

I also had my first appointment at 8 weeks, and I had the vaginal ultrasound. I am only due to have one, but I have already gained 3 lbs, also, and I am getting a bump. This is my third pregnancy, and I'm guessing it has more to do with getting older and our bodies being used to the process by now. I was around 5 months before I showed with my first 2.

Wow! I am amazed at all the early vaginal ultrasounds! The only way you get an early ultrasound here is if you are 'high risk' or if something is suspected to be wrong.
Here the first appointment is just pee in a cup, a pap smear and vaginal check and lots of info. about pregnancy and what to expect/diet/things to avoid, etc. If it is too early they may not even check for heart tones, as you are likely not to pick them up until about 12 weeks.
