Hi there.

I've been bfing for 6 1/2 months now. I work full-time, feed on demand when I can and pump several times a day. My little one sleeps through the night most nights. I'm so tired and really need some sleep! I'm having a hard time with the nightly disruption of sleep. I'm thinking about not getting up at night to pump (1 or 2 am).

I pump at 10pm when I go to bed and DS usually wakes at 4ish for feeding, but sometimes sleeps until 7am. That means that I could go 6 to 9 hours without expressing milk. Do you guys think I'll mess-up my supply by doing this or do you think my body will adjust and make more milk during the day? Thoughts? Advice?

If you are pumping enough for your little one with they way your schedule is now, with out the 2am session, I would go ahead and drop it. Sleep is always a good thing.

If your supply starts to dip again, you can always add it back in. Enjoy your night!

I would NOT get up @ 2am to pump if your little is sleeping most nights. Mine never has done this. But I would continue to pump a couple of nights but only pump enough to relieve your breast from being full don't empty them and eventually they will catch up to DC schedule.

You sound like you are on the same schedule that we're on. I dropped the 1-2am feeding and haven't seen any difference in my milk supply.

If you drop the 2am session, you should be fine for supply. Rest may actually help you increase your supply better than the pumping does.

I agree with PP. Dropping it should be OK.

When my dd started sleeping through the night I dropped the middle of the night pumping session. Anytime I needed a boost, I would just get up and pump for like 5 minutes 2 nights in a row and that seemed to help.

My dd is 11wo today. I go 7-8 hours without nursing or pumping during the work week. My body has adjusted to this and I am making enough milk to nurse dd at home, I pump enough for when we aren't home. I pump twice a day. Once between 9 and 10 am and then once in the evenings around 7 or 8.
