I planned on nursing until 6 months (probably 9 months at the longest). If I start a new job next year (I'm a teacher) then I'd like to start and not have to pump at work. DD will finish my frozen supply and then maybe take some formula. I think I am going to miss bfing, but at the same time, I am looking forward to gaining my independence back. If I dont completely wean her, maybe only feed her before bed, I can do that correct?

Here is my plan.

I am going on a 4 night 5 day honeymoon in November. She will be days shy of turning 1. I have to have her weaned and used to sleeping at grammy's for a night or two. Do I have to wean her before I allow her an overnight there? or Is it possible for her to come back after only a night? It might be up to her. I am ok and prepared to wean at 6 months if need be, but i will let her decide until September. At that time, I think I will have to completely wean.

Any thoughts will be helpful.

You can probably continue to nurse when home as a teacher. At 9 months you should have a good developed milk supply.

For 4-5 days away at 1 year, its hard to say. I went back to work at 4 months with both children and work 24 hour shifts, so my kids were used to the separation at a early age and I pumped at work.

I did go on vacation when my daughter was older and nursing and she picked right back up when I got home.

I was able to continue nursing dd1 even when I worked 30 hours a week and did not pump. DH would usually feed her a jar or 2 of food during the 4-5 hours I was gone and then I'd nurse when I got home. I've been lucky that my body easily adjusts to my ever changing work schedule.
