Hi, I've been nursing my son for about 27months since the day he was born..I just got my period back (after not having any spotting etc. for 2yrs and 2weeks) a couple of months ago (December 2) I was late for my next period I finally got it on January 4 I just figured it was because I wasn't regulated yet so now that it's February and my period didn't come around I just thought the same but I bought a test anyway..well, I'm preggers again. My son doesn't want to wean at all and he still sleeps with me. I've been trying to cut him down to just afternoon and bedtime nursings (instead of whenever he wants) I am worried about the possibility of the baby not living if I don't. Does anyone know of the risks of breastfeeding and pregnancy etc. Also, he's been so mad at me..I've tried my ways to keep him entertained w/out nursing..it's more of a comfort thing with him now. When I won't nurse him especially in bed in the morning he will cry, slap, and kick me w/no stopping unless I give in. I've tried putting him in his room but he will just cry untill he throws up or his eyes get a swollen and puffy :( I don't want to make him wean so abruptly but I don't want it to harm the baby. I will not allow him to beat me up..it's just crazy how mad he gets at me. Does anyone have any extra tips. Thanks so much
Stephanie

It's fine in most cases to breastfeed while pregnant. If you have a history of pre-term labor, then it is advised that you wean by third trimester. I've actually had four miscarriages total and both my reg OB and RE say it's fine for me to bf while pg. This is actually my 4th time pg while nursing. (Two were miscarriages, one was DD, and pg now). My kids were born at 41 and 42 weeks so I have no pre-term labor worries! I do lose weight at the start of my pg's, and even had hypermesis when pg with DD. I lost 6 lbs at the start with her - which is over 5% of my body weight. My dr did worry about the nursing since I was losing weight. But realistically, my milk supply dried up due to the stress on my body so I didn't think it was an issue.
DS nursed with no milk a few times a day from 3.5 weeks pg until around 24/26 weeks when the colostrum made enough for him to swallow. 30% of babies will self-wean when mum is pg. Many babies will nurse even if there's not milk. I'm guessing my DD will likely wean during this pg since she nurses for food only while DS nursed for comfort too.

I agree with kohlby! I am currently pregnant ( 15.5 weeks) and my 13 month old is still nursiong strong. I was a little concerned at first ( more about supply ). While my supply is nowhere near what it was, DS is content to nurse SEVERAL times a day for short periods. I have increased his water intake though. It is completelty doable as long as there are no medical concerns! With all of the changes that are coming into your sons life, if all is well medically maybe weaning can be a battle for later and comfort for now? I wish you the best as this is a very personal and intense choice/subject. CONGRATS!!!!
