My middle child will be 3 this month. She started makeing screaming noises last night and i tried to wake her but it looked like she was in her own reality. It lasted about 20 minutes of screaming and can not wake her. Her little heart was pounding at 172 when the paramedic tested her. Does anyone know the cause of it and had any experience???

My son went through this for a few years..The main thing is to make sure she gets naps..It tends to happen when they are overly tired..There is really nothing you can do about it..Just hold them, etc...My son used to fight in his sleep and I would have to make sure he did not hit me! It took me a while to figure out what it was, but he has now grown out of it..He has not had one for some time..Make sure she is eating well, not alot of junk, and if she seems tired during the day, get her atleast some down time, if not a full blown nap! Good luck!

My daughter has gone through this as well. I told my daycare provider and she said that it happens sometimes when they are coming to a mile stone in his/her development. She said that there isn't much you can really do about it. My dd hasn't had one in awhile now, but I am sure I have more to look forward too since she is only 2.5 and I have another on the way.

We also have this with our 20 month old son. We found out that he is allergic to milk. We stopped the milk and no more night terrors. I don't know if that was the ultimate cause but it worked....Also, I kept a glass of cold water by the crib. I would scoop him up and put his hand in the water or brush some on his face to wake him. I would also turn the light on as soon as it started. I know it sounds cruel, but his terrors were on the verge of convulsions they were so bad. The ped said that he would outgrow them and if it continued after a certain point that he would refer us to a ped sleep specialist. Talk to your ped and see what they suggest.
