View Full Version : IUI - Round 2...WWYD?

I just got back from the ultrasound and it's not so great news. Last month on 50mg Clomid I had two eggs, this month on 100mg I've only got one. They really want to see 2 or 3 and she asked me if we wanted to skip this cycle and increase to 150mg next month. I'm so desperate to get this over with that I initally said no, but now I'm leaning towards changing my mind. I'll repeat the u/s on Thursday but she doesn't expect the smaller eggs to catch up, so all it will do is narrow down when to go ahead, if we do at all. It would save us the $275 IUI cost plus 2 hours of driving time and gas if we skipped. However, I've already got a Rx syringe that was $80 that is only good for 30 days so I wouldn't be able to save it. We've always got the natural route so all would not be lost. I'm torn. WWYD?

Here's another point...

I just got the opinion of a friend of mine who has been through this. She says since you normally only get one egg anyway, so she would go ahead with the IUI since the "wash" would give us better swimmers. Now, to balance that with the fact that we have to abstain for 2-3 days prior, or dtd more often on our own. Hmmmm.

I have no clue! I just wanted to wish you luck either way! What are the stats of it working with one vs two? What are the chances that you'll have the 2-3 next cycle?

See that's the thing. She said some women stop responding to the Clomid and I may be one of them, we don't know. So, there's no guarantee that the increase next month would give any better results.

if there is no gurantee that next month anyway, i would do it. you never know right? plus i would hate to waste an rx syringe, ya know?

good luck...;)

No change with today's u/s, so we've decided to skip it this time. We're looking at an O day of Saturday or Sunday so we'll go au naturale this weekend and hope for the best! Of course I came down with something yesterday and am sick as a dog today with a fever and aches, so that'll make it so much fun!

Thanks busy, but no. I'm in bad shape and am dredding trying to dtd tonight. I have struggled with breathing all day, and of course laying down is when it's the worst. At least we managed to get last night in!

Oh my gosh, it was like divine intervention or something last night! Just as I was putting DS to bed, my nose cleared up. We were able to relax and dtd, and an hour later it stuffed up again, but not as bad as it had been. I'm some better today, which is good because I really don't want to have to take anything now that I'm in the 2ww! This has to be a good sign, right!
