Okay I am 3 weeks postpartum...and feeling great, well at least in the non sore department, I could def. use more sleep...but I wanted to start my workout routine again and I wasnt sure the rules while bf'ing. I am an avid excersicer and did so through my pregnancy until the last 2 months (complications with my pelvis not the baby) soooo I wanted to get back onto my elliptical and do my crunches again. I ahve my OB appt. on the 11th, but I was thinking I can start off slow and see how I feel. I usually have time to do 30 minutes of elliptical 5-6 days a week. I also was on WW before I got pregnant which I must say was great! My sister told me to do it with her since I wanted to drop 10 pounds before conceiving and I have to go back to it...it came off fast! How do you do WW while BF;ing too?? And how do I know my points. so many questions for all of you!!!

I know I can't do to strenous of a workout because of the lactic milk that could occur, I just want to get started and eventually get back into my routine. I hate sitting around the house waiting.....

Honestly, I'd just start out slow (maybe 30 minuts of easy exercise) for a few weeks then go from there. As far as WW goes, I know that you add more points for nursing, but I'm not sure how many. Are you doing WW on your own or through the internet or meetings? Good luck and don't stress if it takes awhile to get back to where you were pre-preg:)

I was going to start out at 15 minutes lightly...i did not do the elliptical while preggers..I did salsa dancing and yoga so my legs are probably going to DIE when I get back on the elliptical. Im not worried about the weight as much as I am just getting back into routine, relieving stress and having "me" time...I am one of those people who really do enjoy working out for those reasons.

After my c-secttion, I waited until 6 weeks and then started walking again. I had done that my whole pregnancy. I would just start back slow if you have the ok from your Dr to exercise. You get 10 extra a day for nursing when doing WW

DD was born on 2/19. Delivery was vaginal and there were no complications. I had to have stitches, but started feeling better a few days after delivery -- sore, mind you, but better. I went for a slow 3 mile walk 5 days after delivering. On day 10, I went for a slow jog (10 minute miles) and then have continued jogging/running 3-3 1/2 miles 3-4 times a week at an 8 1/2 to 9 min mile pace both last week and this week. I went for a 3 week checkup with my nurse midwife yesterday, and she was surprised but said that it was okay as long as I feel good and as long as my discharge stays brown and then goes to clear in the upcoming weeks. If it goes back to bright red, I need to stop, she said. I was fortunate to have an uncomplicated pregnancy and so was able to jog and lift weights through the 40th week. My doctor and midwife have had the philosophy that I should listen to my body -- if it feels good, then it's okay for me to do; if it feels painful or makes me too tired, I should back off. This has worked well for me (so far). I'm like IBchick02 in that I like to exercise for stress relief and "me" time -- I just feel better physically and mentally/emotionally.

I havent been on here but since I posted this I did start, I was feeling really good other than the tiredness of being a mom to two but I started my routine slow and have been going at it for 2 weeks now which have increased intensity and added my crunches in, no problems. I guess it all depends on the person and the recovery. I also am an avid workout person so I worked out hard core before pregnancy, during and after so I think my body was used to the motions I put it through. But needless to say I love how it relives my stress and gives me my "me" time...I needed that, and I think that is why I wanted to start ASAP.
