I bought a new Medela PISA in Feb of 2005. After counting it up, I have been using it for a total of 31 months.

How long do pumps last? We are expecting another baby, and I have been debating getting a new one. They are expensive, so I wanted to start saving up now. I talked to Medela, and they said they would last about a year with full time use, which is obviously wrong.

I would say the suction isn't as great as it once was, and it is making a few odd noises. It still works, though.

What has your experience been?

I borrowed my PIS...I used it a year, the girl before me used it 18 months and the owner had it a few years before that. I would say replace any necessary parts and ignore the noise if it still works.

I also used my Manual Avent a year and it is still working

I'm using a manual pump that my sister used when her first son was a baby...and he's now 21.

I used my PIS with DS1 for a year. During 7 of those months, it was used 4 or 5 times a day to keep up with him. I have now been using it for about 9 months for DS2 - usually 3 or 4 times a day. I have not noticed any problems with it. My tubing was falling apart and horns were getting disgusting so I bought new of those. Otherwise it has held up great!
