My son is almost 16 months. AF returned when he was 14 months and ever since he has started losing interest in nursing. He has been down to 1 to 2 short nursings a day for a couple weeks. He speaks very well for his age. He talks in 3-4 word sentences already. After he nurses he will say "I want drink please."
He has gone 2 whole days without nursing at all. He has been so busy playing with my older children(I have 3 yr old twins)that he just has not asked to nurse and I have not offered. At bed time tonight he gave me a big hug said "I love mommy" and went to bed!
I am a sea of emotions right now. He is such an independent little guy all of a sudden. He really looks up to the twins and wants to be a big kid like them. Part of me says maybe it is his time to wean and I should let it happen and part of me says he may want to continue if I encouraged him. Everyone around me thinks he is old enough to wean. I am fine with the idea of him not nursing any more one minute and sobbing about it the next.

And those are perfectly normal feelings to have, sugar, wanting to be done with it one minute and wanting it to continue the next.

He may be, he may not be! My son will go several days without nursing and then nurse. He once went three weeks so I thought he had weaned, but nope! He's been nursing sporadically for about 6 months now so I never know if it's the last session or not. He's almost 5 years old.

I have come to the realization that I am not ready for him to wean but I do think he is. A couple months ago if I had been asked if he were any where close to weaning I would have said NO WAY! At 14 months when AF was returning but I did not realize it he had become very possesive of me and wanted to nurse like a maniac! Then AF came and he just nursed less and less and less. My supply never recovered and I think that is a big part of the problem.
A couple hours ago he I he said"I potty" when he was in the bathroom while his big brother was going. I let him sit on the potty and to my amazement he went!!! This is waaaay to much in one week he is my last baby. He has done everything extremely early and even though I am sooooo proud of him I still wish he would slow down just a little some times.. I have no intention of encouraging potty training at his age but I guess if he wants to go I won't discourage him.
