While I wouldn't suggest doing the two at the same time, it's considered safe by LLL.

I got mine professionally done while I was BFing Shay, I was actually doing both at the same time, but I wouldn't do it pregnant.

I dye my hair all the time. I have been told by a LC it doesn't affect breastfeeding at all. Unless you are drinking your dye or something...lol

if you plan on doing it yourself just make sure baby is not in the room (see if someone can babysit in another room) so the fumes don't bother him/her. i do and it was fine. my dr even said it's considered ok now to do it when your preggers although i would still not. you might try posting in the general breastfeeding forum too. you will get A LOT more responses there for everything.

I asked my doctor if it was okay to dye my hair while breastfeeding and I was told yes you can.. Something was lingering at me about the answer. So I decided to get a second opinion someone that worked with babies... My daughters peditrician... I was told not to because the dye enters into your blood stream and does enter your breast milk... I guess my roots are going to just stay the way they are until my wedding...
