Hey there! I have a major QUESTION~~

I have exclusively feed my daughter who is now 4 months old...
I have to go to another state for work for 2 weeks (will come home for the weekend in between) and need to somehow pump enough milk this week to last a full week while I am gone?

I notice she is a bit fussy lately. I have been feeding her on one side and pumping on the other. Than on the next feeding, feeding her off the other side and pumping vice versa.

Any suggestions, to help me out? I am stressing out~~

Please~~~

Could your babe go with you? I know that's not always an option, I just take DD on business trips with me. I would worry she wouldn't want to nurse after going a week without it (are you prepared for that?).

Fedexing milk is an option however it could be expensive. In addition to what you are doing is their a time when she's asleep you can sneak in an extra session? Remember most women are usually full in the morning - maybe their is a time. Whenever I needed extra milk (I hung up the horns a couple of months ago) I would pump in the car in route to or from the house. Increase your water and try oatmeal.

Good luck and congtats on your babe.

Thank you so, so much for replying! I am first of all not allowing myself to stress out-That is the first thing that will decrease my supply!!

I have been trying to pump and feed her thru the day, but with pumping in the mix, I think my supply is actually going down(maybe its mental...) I have 9 bottles pumped (5 oz) and figure she takes about that per day/night.

I will try eating oatmeal, and I have been drinking a lot of water. I was thinking, I may try to pump after she goes down for night at 8 PM and than again during the night as well as once in the morning. I should be able to get about 2-3 bottles from that.

From there, I was planning on fedexing Tuesday afternoon what I have expressed Monday and in the morning on Tuesday so it will get there Weds. That should tied her over until Friday in which I will be home for the weekend, before I leave again for one more week.

If I can make it thru this---we will be in the clear~!

I really appreciate you taking the time to respond, it means a lot. I breastfed our son until 9 months, and the thought of ending so soon with our daughter, is really hard...

P.S==Your little one is so cute in the pic!

I doubt your supply is going down, what with all the pumping you are doing on top of the nursing, but if you are trying to put away a week's worth of fridge milk this week in addition to nursing, that is going to be incredibly difficult to keep up with unless you ordinarily produce twice as much as your baby needs.

I just wanted to add that giving her some formula while you are gone does not mean that it will be the end of your nursing relationship, so long as you continue to pump while you are away and thus maintain your supply. If it does look like she'll be getting some while you are gone, I would recommend trying it before the breastmilk is completely gone, so that if she doesn't tolerate one brand or another you have some flexibility with switching.

Good luck with this.
