My 9 week old daughter will have to start daycare next week. I have a Medela Pump in Style Advanced that I have been using to pump at home and build-up a supply of milk and had been planning to use it at work. I found out that my employer has Medela Lactina Select pumps available for use in a lactation room about a 7 minute walk away from my office. Does anyone know if using the hospital grade Lactina would enable me to express more milk and/or to express it more quickly during the day? Thanks for any help!

Generally speaking, hospital-grade pumps (such as the Lactina) have a stronger suction, and everything else being equal, are considered better/more effective at milk removal.

That said, I've personally used a PISA, Harmony (the little manual pump) and a Symphony all within the same time period, and I didn't notice a significant difference among the three at effectiveness at milk extraction. So I would say to go with whichever is easiest/most convenient for you. The PISA is a very nice pump.

I agree with Kerry; the Lactina is *supposed* to extract milk more efficiently, but I never noticed a difference between that and my PIS when I was using both. One advantage to using the Lactina at work is not having to schlep the pump back and forth between work and home.
