View Full Version : Back to Work tomorrow - Tips?

Tomorrow is my first day back at work and I'm feeling really positive about pumping and how ds will do at daycare. Friday was a "test" day for us and the DCP's were great about handling EBM and didn't seem like they would overfeed him. So, yay!
I've got some great information lurking around these boards the past few weeks but I thought I'd put out a last-minute call for any pump-at-work tips that you ladies have. So far I've got extra pump parts and a hands-free pumping bra. And I've packed a little towel in my PIS bag so I don't drip on my slacks!) So, how about it girls, have I forgotten anything?
Thanks!

Sorry I am replying after you have gotten back... but here are some of my tips:
1) Pack your pump the night before (unless you are pumping in the morning- you're less likely to forget things that way)
2) If the faucet in your break room doesn't have hot water you can always use some of the hot water from one the coffee machines (I mix about half hot and half cold to rinse the horns in between pumpings)
3) I heard from some people to put the horns in the refrigerator if you don't have time to rinse between pumpings
4) Try your best not to miss a session, it will help keep your supply up.
Good luck....and remember that because of BF you and your baby have a great bond that no one can replace.
There's nothing better than coming home and relaxing with my baby while he feeds and reconnects with me after a long day apart.

Thank you so much, good tips! And I'm tearing up right now reading your encouraging words. With my first child I was a SAHM and nursed her until she was three. I worry a little about leaving DS--will he get the same benefit she did? But coming home today and putting him to my breast while I read DD stories was pretty great. Pumping for the next 9 mos or so isn't going to be convenient but I know I can do it.

Bring something to read, or help you relax! If I didn't look down at the milk I was accumulating, I seemed to be able to pump more.
I PWOH for two babies until they were past a year old. You CAN do this, it just takes determination.
Good luck!
