One year ago I had a c-section for dd because she wouldn't turn. With my two ds's I had vaginal births and would rather have another vaginal birth with this baby. I just don't know if that will be possible because it is so soon after having dd. I am about eight or nine weeks pregnant and expect to deliver at the end of November or beginning of December. Has anyone experienced this? I know that this baby could be stubborn also and not turn and then I would have no choice, but I would like to keep my options open.

I would find (and it is hard to find) a provider who is truely VBAC. I had a pickle of a time. I finally found one who isn't 100% VBAC supportive but as close as I can get. I heard things like "trial of labor" and "induce after one week". Blah.

I've heard different things so its hard to say. I've heard 2 years, I"ve heard less.

Also, if you didn't know, some chiropractors specialize in a technique that can help babies turn, with no risk from what I understand.

I asked my OB about this after I had my DS (he was a emergency c-section). My OB said there was no set time frame after a c-section to make it so you would HAVE to have another c-section. He also said that trying for a VBAC was a perfectly good plan for next time but to always keep in mind that anything can happen.
I wish you luck and hope you can have a successful experience!

Sorry, my babies were 3 yrs and 8 months apart in age, so attempting a VBAC was not a problem.

I think it varies depending on the health care provider that you talk to. I spoke to an OB at my U/S last week, and she said that 12 months is a good time frame between pregnancies if you'd like to have a VBAC. However, I've heard that some will recommend at least 16 months, or even 24. It probably varies depending on your specific situation, too.

I would talk to your OB and see how supportive they are. You can always look around and try to find a healthcare provider that's VBAC supportive.

Good luck. I know my sister had a heck of a time finding a VBAC OB. Most wouldnt' even consider it, despite two previous succesfull vaginal births.

These stories make me thank my lucky stars I had such a great OB. When I was ready to give up she told me to keep trying and I actually got to do it. 7 hours real labor, 30 min. pushing. Great experience and a much better recovery. Good luck.

I've heard of an absolute minimum of 18 months between births for VBAC, with 2 years being preferred. However, that's the time from delivery to delivery. Exactly how old will your little one be in Nov/Dec?
