Ok, today I spent time with the 2008 CDC's recommendations and the vax schedule from the hospital, I have decided I want to hold 2 of the 4 scheduled 1-year shots until dd3 is 16-months.

So, which shots did your child get at one year? If you delayed any which ones and why?

Thanks, she'll be one on May 6 and I will be setting her appt up tomorrow.

I'm answering you more for a bump than anything because we don't vaccinate but I'm sure that someone better able to answer will come along.

My son just had his one year appointment a couple weeks ago. At his age they are scheduled to get DTaP, HIB, MMR, Chicken pox, Hep A and pneumococcal. The only one he got was the last one. He will most likely be getting the HIB at his 18 month appt and the Hep A at 24 months. Haven't set a age for the DTaP or MMR yet and we will not be doing the chicken pox vax.
My son has been vaxed on time up until 6 months.
It is such a personal decision. Good luck with making yours!

This is the schedule according to the hospital: Pedvax, Prevnar, MMR, and Vari at 12 months. DTaP at 18 months. I am ok with Pedvax and Prevnar at 12 months, but I want to keep MMR and Vari for 15 months.

It's a military hospital, it feels a little different than the civilian providers I've had in the past... I'm not sure how much hassle they'll give me. Just yesterday I took my 11-year old in for her second Hep A shot and the Sgt. giving the shots said chicken pox is required to go to school, one shot when they are a baby and one more before kindergarten. I always thought the chicken pox shot was more optional.

Silly me, I thought this was about one year long vacations. I got really jealous for a minute there.

I can't remember what 12 months was since the dr we used when DS was 12 months was slightly different than DD's dr. We're waiting on MMR until 5 or later and then doing each shot by itself over three years. We're waiting on chicken pox until around 9 years old. We're waiting on hep A until sometime after 2. (The risk for seizures from the vax is 1% in children under 2 and then it declines drastically. However, someone apparently thought 1% was a risk worth taking and put it at one year old. I don't understand why they rush vax's like that!) I do DTaP and HIB almost on schedule but not at the same time.

I vaxed according to my dr's schedule with both girls. I can't remember which ones they were.

Jack hasn't had any vaccines. I may selectively do some later - much later.

I am thinking about delaying the mmr as well. My son turns one on the 4th! I am really freaked out by the autism stats.

As far as chicken pox go, at least in Illinois, it is a mandated vaccine UNLESS you can prove the child had pox previously. In order to prove that you have to have documentation from a doctor.

In my state, there was no philosophical reason you could use to avoid vax's but religion could - but it had to be a real religion with real rules of that nature! I ask my ped about it and he reassured me that there are ways around it - that it was difficult and a lot of paperwork, but you can get out of any vax's. I decided to homeschool so it's not an issue though.
