Tomorrow is my last day teaching at the junior high and I finally decided on something to get for my teachers. I would have liked to spend more on them but we can't really afford to right now. So, basically here's what I made them:

I hope my teachers like them as much as Elise does lol.
They're pencils with fake flowers taped to them with that special green flower tape. Instead of using those glass beads in the vases I used about 80 pencil top erasers in each one. The kids are always asking to borrow pencils and never return them. So, I made these for them, that way when the kids borrow a pencil the teachers can see who has them and they're not as easy to walk out of the room with.
My mom had the flowers (she does flower arrangements for weddings and stuff) and I bought the rest at the dollar store. I spent a whoppin $10 total on them. =)
Oh yeah, and I just realized that I need to switch the flowers around so they'll match the flowers on the vases lol.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say that I'd like to take credit for the idea, but it's not mine. I have seen them in the office at Deven's last school and some of the girls at school (college) were talking about them today. When I went looking for a present at the store I saw the vases and flowers and decided to go for it. And my mommy helped me make them so I wouldn't be up all night doing it.

Aww thanks!
I just typed up the card for my cooperating teacher, how's this for cheesy...
"I can’t believe it, the semester is already over! As happy as I am that I’ve made it through, I’m sad that my time with you and your students is over. I want to thank you, so much, for everything you have done for me. You have been such an amazing support this semester and I mean it when I say that I am so lucky to have been placed with you. You have set a foundation for me to build upon throughout my teaching career. You showed me what kind of teacher I want to be and gave me the encouragement, knowledge, guidance and experience I need to make it happen.
Thank you, Wendy. I will never forget what you have done for me! "
*sniff* I'm gonna miss her =/
I know I'm going to bawl my eyes out tomorrow lol.

Me too Quilty. LOL
I made some for in my greenhouse for people to use. Well I quickly snagged one and threw it in my purse. I went to write a check and the cashier giggled and asked me what store did I steal that from (turns out a lot of stores do it as well) I laughed and told her from mine. She was quick enough to make a corporate theft joke. I told her that she should see how much goes out in bribes to kids, I mean employees. ;)

oh wow, did anyone realize that I started this thread over a year ago? lmao How strange it was bumped after so long. Someone was really digging!
I was just skimming the thread titles and was like WTF???
Thanks for the compliments though! They really did love them =)

I am glad that someone bumped this. they are really pretty and I have often thought about making them for my classroom for the exact reason you mentioned. I went through more pencils this year than any other previous year and I can't believe that in 5th grade they still 'forget' pencils as often as they do. Maybe a summer project for me:)
I'm glad they were bumped, too. They are frickin' adorable!

I was thinking of how to make some "guy" themed ones, but the only ones I could think of would be something too small so they could easily walk out the door with it in their backpacks.
one of the 8th grade teachers at our school trades the kids a shoe for a pencil--but that gets very stinky with a class with 8th grade stinky boys in it. of course, they always remember to return her pencils by the end of the day.

Weird, but I'm glad this was bumped, I think I might steal that idea for a year end teacher's gift. :D
