My ds is doing great nursing, but my nipples are so sore! I'm on Nifedipine for my Raynaud's, and it doesn't hurt to nurse, when he gets started. It's the first time he latches on that kills, cause I'm so sore. I remember some writing about a nipple cream from Dr. Jack Newman that numbs the nipples a bit, until you get used to it. I googled it, but found nothing. Does anyone know what I'm talking about, and where to get it?

I've always used Lanolin/Lansinoh, comes in a purple tube.

I have that, and it soothes after the nursing, but I need something to help with the soreness when the nursing starts

The cream from Newman doesn't numb, IMO, at all. It's a treatment cream for an injured nipple.

What about using just a bit of ice, before you start nursing?

Call LC, maybe they would have heard of a cream like that? Or LLL?

But if it numbs your nipple does in numb the baby's mouth? Or are you supposed to use it a while before? Ask your pediatrician about it. I can't think of a numbing medication that is topical and edible.

That is awesome you are able to breastfreed with Raynauds!
