This is something that a friend said to me when we were talking about nursing at my baby shower for Mason several months ago and it came back to me while making DH's lunch tonight. "I don't know how not to nurse him". I am so proud of her for nursing because she was not sure she could. She used a pump only a few times but her son would not take a bottle. She was feeling weird about nursing her 15 month old at my baby shower because we are the only 3 of us out of a huge group of friends and out of all of our families who have nursed our babies, especially past one year. Of course, we joked about what other people think of nursing toddlers and such but one thing that sticks out to me the most is that she did not know how NOT to nurse her son. It is so true..I don't know how not to nurse either. I couldnt even begin to guess how to replace a feeding with a bottle because DS nurses on demand dozens of times per day starting in the wee hours of the morning. I mean, which feeding would I replace and how much would he eat???? Would he sleep as well?? He will take a bottle of EBM from DH sometimes unlike Sami, but I cant even conceive of how to start to wean and I don't want to. And for goodness sake, how on God's green earth could I ever get him down for a nap???? I don't think DD or DS would have ever slept a wink without nursing to sleep LOLOL!!!! Anyway, I had this on my mind tonight and thought I would share it with you all :bfing:
