why do some people think of the word "boob" as a bad word? I don't get it. a friend was shocked when they heard ds say the word "boob". I say it all the time. I say to dd "you want a boob?" or when she is fussy I say she is telling me "give me a boob mom".

I guess part of me thinks of it as a childish sounding word but since boobs are for our children then I don't see anything wrong with using the word.

Because it's sexual. As in breasts are for sexual things, not feeding your baby.

Natch, that's not the truth, but that's how many people see it. I don't mind the word boob or breast, but I really hate tits. As in, 'is that baby still on the tit? do you have a titty baby?' That one makes me want to spork someone.

We've always called breastmilk boo boo milk or just milk. I don't ask her, 'do you want a boob?' I say, 'do you need milk?' It's all semantics, I think. She can easily be saying, 'I want to nurse momma, or I want milk momma' rather than wanting a boob. KWIM?

I say "mommy milk" more than I say the word "boob" now that I think about it.

I guess i have my moments that i forget that these things are considered a sexual thing lol

DS1 and DS2 said boob when they wanted to drink. I really didn't think much of it, TBH. I have two legs, two arms, and two boobs. ;)

I ditto the word tits. It makes me feel like I am a cow nursing her calf.

My MIL once called DS1 a titty baby. :nono: I had to laugh because my MIL said titty, but I gently derailed that name.

Bummer :( Now I feel like my username is offensive.

It was on my list of possibles because I like that little rhyme "tough titty said the kitty, but the milk's still good." I don't refer to mine (or anyone else's) as tits. I call them boobs.

Calling a child (especially a boy) a titty baby is a derogatory comment where I live that insinuates that he's a wuss. I think we would have used the term cry baby where I'm from. Either way I think it sucks to call a child any name for crying or being sensitive.

A friend of mine from church calls breast milk Booby milk. I think it is funny. I do think calling a baby a titty baby is an insult but I don't think that every one who refers to a child as a titty baby means it in a bad way.

Your name doesn't bother me. It only bothers me when my boobs are referred to as tits. The rhyme doesn't bother me at all nor does the word really offended me at any other time.

When my MIL called him a titty baby it had nothing to do with being a wuss and everything to do with him living on my milk like it was air. He ate every two hours and was a slow eater, so it seemed like he was always there. lol Actually, it was because he was always there. :) I agree though that no child should be called a name for being sensitive.

That's good. I'm also offended by someone referring to my boobs as tits.

I'm originally from WV, and I'd never heard the term titty baby before I moved. Where I live now, in a small town in the south, is the only time I've ever heard it, and it is an insult. The people I've heard use it most often are my SIL & MIL. Because of that I really enjoy calling DS a titty baby (because he BF, & I'm very proud of that)in front of them. Get's them all riled up.

The term as it is applied here also really bothers me because it implies that somehow a BF baby would be wimpy, or somehow less than their non-BF counterparts, I guess because they are more connected to their mothers. The more I think about it, the more riled up I get. Wow, I pity the next person who uses that term in a negative way in my presence"thcatfight".

tee hee...tit mouse. now i'm thinking of homer simpson. thanks a LOT!! :)
i too, do not like the word tit in reference to breasts, although i have no problem with boobs ( the word or the body parts lol)

i don't know why there is a difference in my mind. hug to you tufftitty though. do't mind your name at all!!! :) and i can see the temptation to say it to people who have a problem with breastfeeding. i would enjoy the look on their face too ...

i almost spit out my drink re: sporking someone Red...that is so frickin funny.

we say boob or mommy milk or milk here. breasts or boobs in reference to the actual part of the body. i've also been known to refer to them as the girls or the working girls...but that is just me and my sense of humour. :)

It's not a word I use, cause it's just not my style. But I don't mind if someone else uses it, particularly if she's talking about her own breasts.

We always call it mommy milk here. And the kids refer to breasts as "the milks".

My husband tried "boobies" on me once, but it didn't fly. I can't get romantic with a man who talks like he's in sixth grade. Just won't fly for me.

I'm not offended by the word boob or tit, but it does bother me when my boss used the word boob to refer to chicken breasts and writes it down as so.
