So trying to get a good latch has not been going good. The passed few weeks have been pretty rotten. I try to nurs until he gives me blisters or makes me bleed. Then I give it a day and try again. I know I shoud be trying every chance I get. I am having major trust issued with ds, to the point that I fear latching him on.

Saturday I latched him on at 5:30 a.m. and by the end of the feeding I had blisters on my left nipple and gum marks on my right. I didn't try again until Sunday night at 9:00 p.m. He latched on ok, not great, but ok. After about seven minutes I get this sharp pain in the center of my right nippled (the side he was latched on to) and I scream. He pulls off and I am bleeding. I have no idea how he did it. My nipple wasn't even distorted or smushed.

Sometimes he makes a cliking noise when he nurses, and it never seams like he drains me, I can always get 1 1/2 to 2 oz out of each side after a good nursing session. I don't usually have a problem trying to get him to latch on, he really seams like he wants to nurse, but sometimes (frequently lately) he has been thrashing his head from side to side after being latched on for a wile. He will still be latched on when he does this. Is this an over active let down? or could this be related to colic? He gets very crancy in the evenings and that is when he does this, although the evenings are the primary time that I try to nurse because I am back at work now so I don't know If he would doe this any other time of the day.

How old is DS? Have you seen an LC?

Clicking could be a short frenulum, AKA tongue tie. And that can make latching and nursing VERY painful.

And I wanted to add that just because you can still pump an ounce after you nurse DOESN'T mean that he's not getting milk.

My little guy clicks sometimes too. I had him checked by three people for tongue tie, and that's not it in our case. Does he click when he drinks a bottle? So I'm with you on that one! Your lo does a lot of the same stuff as mine....the wiggling around to get the latch where he wants it, not where I want it, the wanting to nurse, but not getting a good latch, crabby in the evenings. Let me know if you find the solution! And I'll let you know if I find one!

Go see a LC! How old is he? If he has tongue tie he cant latch correctly. I went through 2 months with tongue tie than another 1.5 correcting his latch. It is painful! Iam sorry.

I don't have any advice other than that you see an LC. I just wanted to say im sorry your having such a bad time with this and I pray you find some relief soon.

He is two months old, and I do think he does the click with a bottle when he is drinking very fast. I saw three different LC when I was in the hospital but none recently.

Get to one, sugar. Or an LLL leader. At 2 months, it shouldn't hurt like that, at all.
