Breastfeeding and root canal

I have to have a root canal and the dentist uses valium which I know is not safe for breastfeeding infants. I was just wondering if you could help me how long should I use pumped milk... how long does it take for a drug to be out of your system? Any help would be great!

will be 7 months old on friday

With her age and just the short time use for surgery she are fine just to feed her--no need to pump and dump. This is from Tom Hale's book Medications and Mother's Milk.

so it would be ok to take it is just one dose of 5mg it shouldn't harm him? just so i can have the root canal done! i just wanted to make sure!
