Hydroxyzine/ Atarax 5month old

I do not know what to do. My pedi gave me a perscription for Hydroxyzine/ Atarax Syrup because my 5 month old keeps itching. What do you think? I am nervous because he is so young and it can cause drowsiness.

Has your baby been tested for allergies? I would ask for a referral to a dermatologist for skin allergy testing. Let's find the cause of the itching not just treat it. But, atarax is safe, and I would give it before naps and bedtimes. that gives itching relief and sleepiness side effect is ok during those times.
