Ok first i hope i am posting correctly. My son is 18 weeks old and has been taking a bottle fine until this past weekend. I work two 12 hr shifts on the weekend and my husband keeps him. This past weekend i had to leave work which is not something i can not do. Anyways he pushes the nipple out to the side of his mouth and gets so upset that both nights he cried for over 2 hrs. I am so concerned. we have tried a cup and he seemed to do ok, but the real test will be this weekend. I just need some encouragement and advice. We have been offering the bottle all week 1-2 times a day without any changes. He has only had breastmilk in bottles.

Thanks
Michelle

You can use a medicine/eye dropper as well.......that does tend to take awhile though! Have your husband hold him the same way that you do as he offers the bottle. You can also try an SNS with finger feeding......a tubal system that delivers the milk.

We are willing to try anything. My husband says he just feels so helpless. Is this common for breastfed babies? My daughter always took the bottle fine. He is 18 lbs and very healthy, we changed nipples to fast flow and he didn't like that so i do like the dropper idea. I really like the idea of the sns he loves the pinky.

The SNS is a lifesaver for (or a breast saver lol?) for the nursing baby.
It is common for a baby to reject the bottle because it isn't MOM!
p.s. Happy mother's DAY!
