pacifier

Hello,
My daughter has been using my breast as a paci and she is 6 wks old now and we try to get her to use a real pacifier but she just won't take it. We tried 3 different styles and none of them work. She just pops them out of her mouth. Do you have any ideas? When we go out and she gets upset the only thing that calms her is if my husband or i stick our finger in her mouth.

I usually don't recommend pacifiers because they may get nipple confused with the rubber nipple. Take the baby off the breast if she has emptied your breast completely and she is not actually swallowing. However, if she is swallowing, it may be that she is still eating. All babies are different and some eat slower than others. How long do you nurse for and what makes you think she is using you as a pacifier?
When you go out you may want to practice at home helping her find her own thumb is better than the pacifier.
