I just had a shot of Rocephin today. My doctor said it was fine to breastfeed. I am just still worried about transferring it to the baby and him having side effects. What are the chances and am I being to paranoid.

Rocephin is safe the very tiny amount that gets into breastmilk is not significant. This antibiotic is given to new babies also if needed. No need to worry.

Why do they say that it is not recommended for nursing while on it? Is that mostly for newborns. My baby is 6 months old

It is approved by the american academy of pediatrics for babies so no problem. Who say not recommended for nursing?
It is safe. You may want to check Dr. Thomas Hale website for more information but it is ok and the most common side effect is diarrhea but no problem if you got it because the baby gets a very minute amount.
