Baby born 5/2/08
Baby initially nursing about every 2 hours. Milk came in on day 3-4.
On Saturday, day 9, baby started with increased nursing frequency. Also, at this time of increased nursing frequency, he started spitting up. His pediatrician dx him with reflux at birth, but hadn't really noticied much spitting up until increased nursing frequency. Sometimes the spit up is very liquid, and sometimes it has a thicker consistency to it.
Then on Sunday he started being congested, and we are using saline drops and bulb to remove nasal secretions.

Do you think spit up is nasal related or I read a post about overactive let down? As soon as I start to nurse I feel the let down.

Hi
Not sure if it is due to overactive letdown. Please try to position the baby in a sit up position so that the breastmilk goes down and he can handle the let down (in case it is overactive). Also, leave him upright for about 30 minutes (infant seat at a 45 degree angle)
Reflux usually clears once the baby grows so be patient for now it will clear.

could the stuffy nose affect the spitting up

No it shouldn't. Use saline infant drops and keep his nose clear so he can breastfeed but it has nothing to do with the spitting up.

you mean to nurse him where he is sitting up more vs. the cradle/cross cradel hold?

Please try To empty one breast at a time. When you think the breast feels really soft then switch if the baby still wants.

why would one do it one way over the other?
why would one swith sides after 10 -15 min, vs emptying the breast and then switching sides?
