So I am new to this site. The room where I pump at work had this site listed as a great place for moms to go to for breastfeeding. My son is 9 months old, his dad and I are getting divorced. My son has been on and off a bottle for months, always drinking breast milk. He does really well with going between the bottle and the boob. I have had to put him in daycare and he isn’t drinking as much at daycare as his dad says he is when he is at his dad’s house. I worry that he is not getting enough fluids in his diet when he is at daycare. He is having a hard enough time with the difference in food that he is getting at home and at daycare. His tummy seems to be really upset.

We went to the doctor on Monday and the doctor said we can put our son on whole milk now if we want. The doctor said he is doing great health wise and he has been on both baby food and breast milk for months. He does great with a bottle and is really starting to get the hang of finger foods like cookies. I feel like I am pumping all the time to keep my supply up but it also seems like he is not breastfeeding as much. I think I am ready to start weaning him and I am not sure how to start. I want him to do well with the whole milk. I am also worried that it is going to hurt me. I am not really sure of the process. Does anyone have any ideas?

I would wait til he is a year old before you introduce whole milk. I understand your doctor said he could have it earlier, but it is better to wait. You really want breastmilk to be the main part of his diet for the first year.

In what way is his tummy upset? What is he eating and how much? Why is he having cookies? I wouldn't want to give so small a child any unnecessary sugar.

The cookies are teething cookies. When he is at daycare he is getting all sorts of different food mushed up for him to be able to eat. Things like fruit, greenbeans, ect.

If you think your baby is sensitive to any foods he is eating, was he introduced to each new food one by one? Do you provide the food he eats at daycare?

I am thinking like Jack's Mommy. You may want to send food that you would normally give him to see if it makes a difference in his upset tummy.
