I dunno, but that drives ME CRAZY.
then again, its not like the models for regular sizes are modeling regualr sizes. Most modes are a size 0-3 despite the fact that the clothes they model don't come in that size either.

I know! How are you supposed to envision yourself in the clothes if the model is a 6 or smaller.
Stupid!

I've seen plenty of plus sized models. ANTM has even had a few that were plus size.

Now I am wondering where you're shopping that isn't using plus sized models.
I was searching for a shirt yesterday online and I came across a few websites that claimed to be plus size but the models were clearly not. I have also received catalogs in the mail Roman's I think that also claim to be plus size but again models were not. Those are just 2 of the many I have experienced.
Here's a few I found just searching

Totally and not pin the crap out of the backs of the clothes to make them look like a 2.

This is interesting BHF. Maybe I should start another thread "what is plus size to you?"

Yeah, some of the links you posted are using skinny models. You're right. The Ulla Popkin site, though, looks like some of their girls are larger than regular model size.

I don't think that is true. I would have to look them up, but I can think of at least 2 off the top of my head that were over a size 12.

You should. I think it'd be interesting to see the responses. Maybe over in the debate forum. I think that America's standards of sizing has changed so much over the years that people can be a lot bigger than they were 40+ years ago and still not be considered plus size. Today's size 8 is probably an 18 in vintage clothing.

" * Whitney Thompson is the first plus-size model to win the reality-based TV show America's Next Top Model. Thompson began her modeling career at age 15[4] in her home state of Florida, appearing several times on the cover of her local "Jacksonville" community magazine. Thompson is 5'10", has declared herself to fluctuate between U.S. sizes 8-10 [5], and was 20 years of age at the time of her appearances on ANTM. Thompson will be the first plus-size model to appear on the cover of Seventeen magazine, on the July 2008 issue.
"
I can't find anything on anyone else-but I know the other two season I watched they were calling girls size 8-10 "plus sized" models..I guess in comparison with models they are plus size, but their clothes certainly aren't.

That is beyond ridiculous. I'd kill to be a size 8 again...
I thought I read somewhere that the average size for women is 12-14?

I'm thinking of two in particular, but can't remember their names. One was a very curvy black girl - maybe Tamika or something like that? I don't know if they ever said her size, but I'm guessing she was a 14-16. Then another girl who was more athletic looking w/ a large chest. Kind of exotic looking. I'll google later.

8-10 is a plus size? Seriously? WTF?
BeachMama

I agree that 8-10 is not plus sized, but an 8-10 of today would've been plus sized back in the day. It would translate to like a size 18 back then.

Here is one of the girls I was thinking of (Diane). She looked a little bigger on the show, but maybe the camera does add weight. Anyway, even in this pic I think she could easily be a 14. A really great looking, well proportione 14, but a 14 nonetheless.

Here is another (Whitney) who is at least a 14.

Toccara is the other girl I was thinking of.

I know diane and whitney were NOT size 14- they are size 10 -12 tops. but I can't find jack to verify that about diane. the piece I quoted above was from whitney saying she is between an 8 and 10.
I do remember Tocarra though ,and I think she IS an actual plus size.-she is like 5ft 9 and 180 at her biggest-but I can't find anything about her size.( I think she is down to 160now, after celeb fit club)

I agree totally. America is not skinny anymore.
