Same time as with my DS, the clogged ducts, but now my left breast has something that doesn't seem like a clogged duct.
My the lateral side of my breast hurts like a really bad bruise to the touch, but I don't feel anything hard like clogged ducts feel like in the area, nor do I see any white 'dots' on my nipple. It doesn't feel hot to the touch either. What is it?!-Robyne

Could you have a deep bruise? Did you sleep on it wrong? Did it get smooshed or bonked at some point the last few days?

Did you have a clogged duct in that side that you worked out and now it is bruised?

You can have deep clogs or even the beginning of mastitis (which doesn't always require antibiotics so please don't worry at this point). I would feed your dd from that breast first from now on to make sure it gets drained well and apply ice after feeds (you can warm the breast up before feeds to help letdown).
Have you added lecithin to your diet? It's a supplement that helps prevent clogged ducts.
Also, read through these pages; it might help you prevent them in the future:

I was in a rush during my post, so I also called the lactation counselors at
'The Pump Station ' where I live. They told me exactly what you told me about having a 'deep clog' w/in my breast. Sleeping on my side probably added to this too.
And for anyone out there having the same problem...to take lecithin, increase fluid intake, vitamin C, non-Golden Seal echinacea, and follow same clogged duct nursing procedures. Also, to ease pain, alternate Motrin and Tylenol.
