So my usually mild tempered baby is all of the sudden freaking out. It seems like he is scared of everything...he's always been sensitive to loud noises but now he screams. They are usually understandably scary things (like a train and really loud noises at the zoo) but they never used to freak him out (nothing really did). He is teething (you can see the tooth right there ready to break through so you know it's gotta hurt) and he did get some shots today but even before today (maybe the last week or so). Do they just become more aware around this age, so unfamiliar things freak them out? Anyone got any experience with this? I'm a nervous mama, I taught sp ed for awhile so I'm always looking for "signs"...I know I gotta let it go. TIA.

My DD would let anyone hold her without a peep until she got around that age. Now if she doesn't recognize you, you can see it coming. The lip comes out first, then the squinty eyes, then the tears. She turns her head looking for mommy or daddy. So yeah maybe its being more aware of things now at that age. I think it is normal.

My 4 year old was like that, but it happened a little later.......like 7 months or so. He all of sudden got wierd about other people holding him. It didn't last too long though and he grew out of it. He's now a very social little guy, and has been for quite a while! :) I think they all go through strange little stages like that.

Mine did this. Daddy's sneezes were a big reason to scream for my poor baby. It was so sad. People getting loud (like going to the in-laws when they were watching football) scared him to death. I made everybody stay calm or I kept Jack away. I even scolded my poor husband for sneezing - told him he had to do it quietly or in another room until baby was older and not afraid of it. Jack outgrew his fear of sudden loud noises, but it did take a while.

I am sorry. I got two kids in Special Ed. One of them is Autistic. Sounds like he definitely has some sensory issues. I hope things get better for you and your son. I am not saying he has Autism or anything like that, but you might want to get him tested as he gets older that is if the symptoms get worse. I wish i can help you.

My 2 month old gets scared when you make loud noises when you are holding him or just arround him. If he is sleeping he is out but if he is awake then you have to keep it at an "Inside voice" level.

My DS (5.5 months)hates going to the in laws because everyone screams or talks loud. But when the house alarm went off he did not care, go figure.
