Welcome to the boards! Sometimes it takes some time for baby to adjust to budding teeth but in almost all situations, baby learns to nurse efficiently with teeth. Nursing involves the tongue covering the lower teeth. Baby must stop nursing in order to bite.

Welcome! Like nipplenectar said, once your baby adjusts to nursing with teeth, it will be fine. I nurse my son with a full mouth of teeth, and I don't recall every feeling his teeth on me while nursing.

My son has had teeth for quite some time. Breastfeeding him is not painful. As he got new teeth he had to relearn his latch, and there was some discomfort and me saying "gentle" a lot, but it wasn't bad and didn't last too long.

It's a momentary thing, like jacksmommy said. Some babies don't even need to adjust their latch, they just keep nursing as they did before. Of my 4 kids, the last one (she's almost 15 months old, has 10 teeth) is the only one who gets a bit rough when she's teething. A reminder from me, taking her off and relatching and telling her to be gentle with Momma, and it's not a biggie.
