DS is 15 mths old and did something strange today. He took his diaper off in my MIL living room and then proceeded into the bathroom and took a stinky on the rug by the toilet. Does this suggesst that he is ready for a potty. I got his potty out when he returned home and put him on it naked. He didn't pee while sitting on it but got up turned around and stood up and peed.
Is this a freak occurence or could he be ready this early??

I'm betting it's a freak thing, but that's just me.
No reason why, though, you couldn't have the potty there, though, and encourage sitting on it. :D
Readiness signs, IMO, are staying dry during naps or mostly dry in the mornings, or longer periods during the day.

I'd try potty training. It would either work or not work :) I've seen some ready at this age and others are 3 or older before they clue in or agree to the terms (so to speak).
I'd not drive myself batty over potty training. Toddlers tend to go find a private place (often it is the same place each time) they a BM. It could be that your DC just picked the bathroom because no one was in there but, it is certainly worth a try to introduce potty training and see if he continues to respond.

I would get the potty out where it was visible. I wouldn't expect much, but it never hurts. He may be on the way, he is probably becoming more aware of what is going on with his body.

I think it could be a freak thing or it may not be--the only way to know is to see if it happens again. You can leave the potty out and let him sit on the potty when he wants to, but I wouldn't push it just yet. I have a friend whose 3 kids were all PT'd by age 2 (and #4 is PTing already and she's 2 in aug), and they mostly trained on their own--boy, is she lucky! But if you find him or yourself getting frustrated by it, definitely don't push it.
