My little man is 5 1/2 months old. He has started this new thing: he sticks out his tongue and leaves it between his top and bottom gums. Is he teething? It is becoming more and more frequent over the last couple of days. It looks sort of weird. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks!

Does he have teeth already? Just wondering. I haven't experienced this but my 10 week old boy has started to put our fingers/knuckels into his mouth clamp down hard and screem. He has also started to knaw on his fists. I am sure these are signs of teething but so young?

No he does not have any teeth yet. Some babies can get their first teeth around 3 months!

My baby is 5 months today and has a tooth right on the verge of breaking through. He's been drooling like crazy for about 2 months. At his 4 month the doctor said he definitely wasn't teething (I nodded and smiled because I knew he was for sure wrong) and sure enough you can see the white, right there ready to burst through. He sucks his bottom lip in over it, he gnaws anything within mouth distance, he wiggles his fat little tongue around. So yeah, your baby could definitely be teething. Oh and he's grouchy as hell (but still lovin' the boobs)!

It could be teething or he could just be discovering that his tongue can stick out and it's kind of fun to play with it. :D
