My 8 day old girl has hiccups all the time. At least 6 times a day. I feel so bad for her, she seems upset and uncomfortable when she has them. Why do babies get hiccups like this and how can I make her feel better when she has them?

I'm not sure why they get them, but my dd would get the hiccups while I was still pregnant with her at the same time every night and they'd last for about 1-2 hours. After she was born, she continued to have them like clockwork-it was kind of cute. They have since subsided in regularity, though she still tend to get them when she's upset or tired.

I have found that dipping baby's pacifier in sugar and then allowing the baby to suck the sugar off the pacifier cures hiccups every time.

My DD gets huccups all the time too and even before she was born too.
Like yours she seems uncomfortable with them too.
I offer her the breast and they go away every time.
I figure they tell you to take a drink of water when we get them so.....
Hope it works :)

Oh please don't do this. An 8 day old baby does not need sugar, in any way.
