Inspired by Hamm's thread.

Leo'sMommy, my friend, Jeni makes kick ass flat out awesome cakes. I'm hoping she and the rest of you will post some of the creative ones you've made in your lifetime. Jen just made my BIL a sweet guitar from Rock Band for his birthday.

I'm a total amateur and I've never taken a class or anything, but I enjoy making interesting cakes. Here are three birthday cakes I made. I've done others, but these are already on photobucket.

Oh and every cake I've ever made is an idea stolen from some online cake site or other. Not my ideas at all!

I am not a cake person. I can barely cook. I am bad at it. Truly. However I am a good sport. When ds1 REALLY wanted a bat birthday cake I went along with it despite knowing it was going to be terrible. He was only four and loved it.

I'm itching to make a castle cake for DD for her 4th birthday in August, but she wants a Diego cake. Sigh. I'm trying to convince her that Diego rescues animals from a castle! I'm not sure she'll buy it though.

I'm going to claim my fair share of credit for this cake! I haven't made any other birthday cakes yet.

I have bad pictures
I made a tank cake for youngest's 8th birthday this year.
plastic pirate ship on a cake for 7th.
I made a dinosaur cake for 6th.
air craft carrier for 5th
store bought cakes mostly before that.

My oldest has wanted mostly cup cakes for the last couple years, but at 12, the cakes aren't so important.
He's had a camoflage cake with army men on it,
pirate ship on top of cake with pirates,
dirt covered cake with gummy worms all over it.
and I'm a bad mom and can't remember any more.

I went to my pictures on my computer so that I could add mine, but then I was reminded that they're all from the grocery store. :)

Mary, your cakes are amazing!!

Here's the one Nikki referenced earlier

And this is the one I did for my sister's graduation party/my Dad's retirement party this weekend. I was at a loss on how to incorporate everyone in one cake, so this was my go at it.

Haleysmom, you could make this cake for your dd. I'd be happy to give you any advice. Really, the only hard part is smoothing the frosting on the sides. The flowers and butterflies are just fondant rolled out and cut with cookie cutters and left to dry. My dd actually helped me with this part. And this was my first stacked cake. I was very nervous putting it together.

And this cake isn't as big as it looks. It's 4in, 6in, and 8 in rounds. Seriously, it you are interested in making it for your dd, let me know.

Andrew wanted me to make him a baseball cake with the bake and fill pans. Its not very nice looking but he liked it, I put icecream in the middle.
