...Gap has them on sale for $6.99. Unfortunately, they're still about $7 too much. LOL.

And the old school 'reverse fit' which I wore in high school. Funny thing is they're cut roomy in the hip and thigh and I was slim through the hip and thigh. LOL. I like how the description tries to sell you on the 'setting' more than the fit of the jeans.

I don't get why it's funny. I guess I have no fashion sense because if they still had my size I would totally buy some.

ONE TIME, I bought a pair of shorts in reverse fit. They were the ugliest things I ever owned. Seriously. I kept trying them on over every summer to see if I'd changed and would like them, but no. Damn ugly. I finally freecycled them and someone else is wearing them now.

Those aren't mom jeans. They don't have an elastic waist. I want REAL mom jeans.

Nobody should wear that fit of jean. They're unflattering. Period. The only thing worse would be if they were pleated.

Oh, do they still sell jeans with the zipper at the bottom? I loved those in the 80's. lol

I am quite aware that they are unfashionable and uncute, but IMO jeans that fit are more flattering than jeans that don't fit. I have a mom jeans body -- long rise, high waist, large hips/butt/thighs, poochy tummy. Mom jeans fit me. Fashionable jeans don't fit me.

I think that mom jeans look great as long as you don't tuck in your shirt.

I used to love the reverse fit jeans when I was in college. They fit me better than any other pants out there. I was in college 15 years ago though! I still have the reverse fit hanging in my closet, though they don't fit. Maybe if I hang on to them long enough, they'll come back in style and I can ebay them!

Yup. Given the alternative of "mom jeans" that have a higher rise, mid waisted jeans that seem to constrict my bellybutt (you're welcome for the visual, by the way:hugegrin: ) or fashionable jeans in which my belly flops out over the waistline, I'll pick the "mom jeans." I'm much less cranky about being mocked and ridiculed for my lack of fashion when I'm comfortable.
ETA:
I've only ever found one pair of fashionable mid to lower rised jeans that actually fit me nicely, but they were a major exception. In all these years, just that one pair of cheap Old Navy jeans.

I totally agree that fit is really important. So is comfort. But those jeans do not have a good cut. For any body shape.
It's not the high waist that I think is so bad (unless you're tucking shirts in to them), it's the tapered legs. You can find high waisted jeans in a straight leg. A tapered ankle jean will only emphasise the hips and butt. Reminds me of an ice cream cone.

They're not what I'd pick, but I see nothing wrong with them. I think the high-waisted jeans would look better on many people on whom I see with hip huggers in which their bellies hang over.

I had no idea that Gap still made mom jeans! Chicka, maybe try jeans with more stretch in them. Jeans now are more comfy than ever before. I also agree with Beach about the tapered ankle being bad on anyone. Lands End makes jeans in a slightly higher rise but with a straight or flared leg.

I cannot for the life of me see how those could be comfortable. They certainly aren't attractive.

For some of us potgut gals, they are much more comfortable than being squeezed in the middle and they have to be more attractive than having a gut flopping out over them, though I see that among a lot of high schoolers and young women around here. I'm not young enough to be able to successfully pull off the gut flop over the waistline look. Then again, I wear granny draw'z, so it looks less ridiculous than having those poof out over my waistline prison style.:p
I know that pencil leg pants aren't so attractive for my figure, but I was responding to earlier posts that were addressing only the rise of the pants and not the cuff.

I can't figure out how thongs, stilettos, and ultra-low-rise jeans could be comfortable. I think it probably has to do with age and size/shape.

Any item of clothing that has both "stonewashed" and "tapered leg" in the description should be avoided, IMO.

I think that often those with larger hips/butts (compared to their waist) can have a high rise pant fit them more like a mid-rise. My mom and I can try on the same pants and because we are built so differently, the midrise will hit my belly button and on her they barely cover her ass crack. She, however, can find plenty of pants in straight leg or bootcut with a high enough rise.

And I can't wear anything but a thong and low rise! Oh and before I had kids, you wouldn't catch me in anything but heels.

I can't figure out how thongs, stilettos, and ultra-low-rise jeans could be comfortable. I think it probably has to do with age and size/shape.I wear thongs because regular undies either give me a visible panty line or wedgies. I have been wearing thongs for so long that I'm just used to them. I don't know that I'd say they're 'comfy' - I just don't notice them anymore. Regular undies feel weird/unomfortable to me now.
I can wear stillettos for several hours. On my feel for 9 hours? No, not comfy. Working in an office where I'm up and down all day? No problem. I own very few shoes (stillettos included) that are uncomfortable.
Ultra lowrise jeans, however, are very uncomfortable for me. I am constantly pulling them up or pulling my shirt down. I like mid-rise the best. High waisted pants are ridiculously high on me because I am short waisted. but mid-rise is juuuuust right.

Small waist, roomier through the hips and thigh. Tapered ankle. No clue why theyr'e called 'reverse' fit.
